STATEMENT: Remembrance Day

November 10th, 2022
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Edmonton, AB – Matt Jeneroux, Member of Parliament for Edmonton Riverbend, released the following statement in respect to Remembrance Day:

“Remembrance Day is an important day to all Canadians as it gives us the chance to pay our respects and remembrance to the great men and women who have risked it all and have given this nation the greatest sacrifice possible.

“Every year on the 11th month, on the 11th day, and at the 11th hour we take a moment of silence to remember the greatest sacrifice those in our armed forces have given to our freedoms, rights, and liberties.

“I thank all those brave men and women who have laid down their lives for our nation. Lest We Forget.”

In Flanders Fields
By: John McCrae

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
