STATEMENT: Morneau’s resignation proof of a government in crisis: Jeneroux

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

EDMONTON, AB – Matt Jeneroux, the Member of Parliament for Edmonton Riverbend and Shadow Minister for Health, released the below statement following the news that Finance Minister Bill Morneau resigned:

“Morneau’s resignation is an attempt by the Prime Minister’s Office to deflect from an ongoing scandal involving WE Charity. The Liberals’ excuse of a ‘policy disagreement’ and Morneau wanting to seek a new career is not the truth – this resignation was orchestrated by the Prime Minister’s Office to deflect from Justin Trudeau’s ethical lapses.

“Firing Morneau does not solve the problem. Every day, new details emerge in the Trudeau WE scandal that paint a concerning picture of corruption at the highest levels of government. Until Trudeau is no longer Prime Minister, nothing will change. Conservatives will continue to hold Trudeau and his government to account and we will keep fighting for the answers that Canadians deserve.”
