Online Passport Renewal Now Available to All Eligible Canadians

Eligible adult Canadians can now renew their passports online without capacity limits.

Following a successful phased rollout that began in December 2024, the Government of Canada has removed capacity limits for online passport renewal.

As of today, online renewal is available to all eligible adults applying from within Canada whose passport expires within the next six months or, if expired, was issued within the last 15 years. The same passport fees apply whether you renew online, by mail, or in person.

Eligible Canadians can securely submit their application, upload a digital passport photo provided by a commercial photographer, submit supporting documents and payment online, and receive real-time updates throughout the application process.

Online renewal is an additional service option. Canadians who prefer to renew in person or by mail may continue to access passport services through Service Canada. Those who need their passport in less than 25 business days should continue to apply in person at a Service Canada office offering passport services.
