Ottawa, ON – National unity must be addressed by the government, said Member of Parliament Matt Jeneroux in a statement in the House of Commons today.
“It’s something not right when millions of Canadians feel they’re not represented by the government,” said Jeneroux, who represents the riding of Edmonton Riverbend.
Feelings of Western alienation are high following policies by the federal Liberal government that make it harder for Alberta’s energy sector to succeed.
In the government’s recent Speech from the Throne, Alberta was only mentioned once, in the context of working with the energy sector to achieve net zero emissions by 2050.
“Thousands of Albertans feel left behind by the government. I wanted to stand up for this sentiment in the House of Commons,” said Jeneroux.
“Canada is a great country that is the envy of the world. It is a country worth fighting for, and I will always fight for Canada.”
