NDP – Liberals Confidence Agreement ends
NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh has announced the termination of the supply-and-confidence agreement with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s Liberal government. This agreement, which was supposed to stabilize the minority Liberal government until June 2025, has been a significant factor in the government’s failure to address pressing issues facing Canadians.
Jagmeet Singh’s announcement, made through a pre-recorded video, that the NDP will be “ripping up” the agreement and evaluating future votes on their own merits, comes amid mounting criticism of Trudeau’s administration. However, Singh’s decision to distance his party from the Liberal government does not change the fact that the NDP’s support over the past two years has directly contributed to higher taxes, soaring food and housing costs, and increased crime, all of which Canadians are now grappling with.
Critics have rightly noted that Singh’s past actions have exacerbated these issues. His support for the increased carbon tax, set to reach $0.61 per liter, is particularly troubling as it threatens to drive more Canadians to food banks and stifle economic growth. This policy only adds to the financial burden on hardworking Canadians and damages our economy.
We believes it’s time for a change. We are ready to offer common-sense solutions that will lower taxes, reduce the cost of living, and enhance public safety. Canadians deserve better than the costly coalition of the NDP and Liberals, which has failed to deliver on its promises and left our country in a state of disarray.
As we approach the next election, we will work to present a clear alternative to the current policies that are harming our communities. It’s time to restore fiscal responsibility, address the rising costs of living, and bring safety and stability back to our streets.
