FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
EDMONTON, AB – Matt Jeneroux, Shadow Minister for Infrastructure, Communities, and Urban Affairs, issued the following statement on Justin Trudeau’s recent comments blaming provincial governments for failed federal infrastructure projects during a visit to Edmonton:
“Justin Trudeau’s recent comments blaming the provinces for his failure to get federal infrastructure projects built is just one more example of his incompetence.
“Trudeau promised billions in new infrastructure spending. But as the Parliamentary Budget Officer has confirmed, Trudeau’s promised infrastructure spending has not materialized. Once again, Trudeau is not as advertised.
“The PBO also released a report in March that found net provincial capital spending on infrastructure has grown, contradicting Trudeau’s inaccurate claims in Edmonton. Instead, the Liberals have delayed the much-needed construction of new transit projects, roads, bridges and community spaces.
“Canadians deserve a government that will work with municipalities and ensure the infrastructure projects they need are delivered on time and on budget.
“Conservatives have a plan to work with municipalities and provinces to get shovels in the ground to get the much needed projects built in communities across Canada so all Canadians can get ahead.”
