EDMONTON, AB – Matt Jeneroux, the Member of Parliament for Edmonton Riverbend, releases the following statement regarding Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s visit to the Trans Mountain Expansion Project today in Edmonton:
“Today, the Prime Minister is in Edmonton to rally Liberal support before the upcoming federal election. His presence here in Edmonton at the Trans Mountain Expansion Project doesn’t excuse his government’s inaction on this file over the past four years.
“The government used taxpayer money to purchase this pipeline at an inflated price more than a year ago. Then, on Wednesday, the Prime Minister stood on stage in Montreal with his new star Liberal candidate, who is staunchly anti-pipeline and a Greenpeace activist. Given that, I wonder how sincere his government is about getting this pipeline built.
“Trudeau has ignored Alberta over the past four years and worked to phase out our province’s natural resource sector with legislation his government has passed. Today’s announcement is blatant campaigning on the government’s dime.”
