I am proud to announce that I have been appointed as the Shadow Minister for Science. In this new role I will be responsible for holding the government to account on research funding decisions, and maintaining their promises to adequately invest in creating more co-op placements for young Canadians. Furthermore, I plan to question the government on their long overdue promise of appointing a Chief Science Advisor.
During my time as critic for Western Economic Diversification, I have been a vocal advocate of the conversion of the orphan wells into geothermal producing sites. This conversion is a means of diversifying the Western economy, growing our environmentally sustainable energy output and most importantly, getting unemployed skilled workers back on the job. This is important work that I look forward to continuing in my new role as Shadow Minister for Science.
I am grateful to our leader Andrew Scheer for this honour, and I look forward to working with our world-class researchers in the public and private sector in this new capacity.
